Stormlight Archive is a winner for me, but if you hold off you can get books 1-5 in sequence together. Mistborn Era 2 is a set I have really grown to like. It was these stand alone books where I realized how creative Sanderson is with unique worlds and magic systems. I read Elantris and Warbreaker near each other, although Elantris was first. The subsequent 5 books slow down on excitement and get a lot of political philosophy. The first book of Dune is one I really like and have recommended many timea. It wasn’t until I heard they were making a TV series that I decided to revisit WOT and finish from start to finish. I didn’t stick with it and finish the series as each book was published. Then they came out infrequently and books 7-10 or so are pretty slow moving because there are so many separate story lines to follow. My first time through I caught up with what was published by about book 7. WOT is an awesome series in many ways, but it’s super long and it’s easy to lose steam. I also like to mix up genres and will include history and other non-fiction. I have broken up reading Sanderson with other authors, but mainly because I get audiobooks from the library and have to wait for the next book. Produces: Brandon is a robot!
